  • Helicopter evacuation of trauma victim on Mist trail.
  • Fatality and body recovery on Half Dome.
  • Vernal Falls triple fatality and body recovery.
  • Numerous minor calls for ailments, lost and overdue parties, and injuries.
  • Helicopter evacuation from Little Yosemite Valley.
  • Helicopter evacuation of climber after 60’ fall on Zodiac route of El Capitan.
  • Numerous carryouts via wheeled litter, sometimes with rigging because of terrain.
  • Hiker fatality on Upper Yosemite Falls Trail.
  • Hiker fatality on Mist Trail and use of highline to recover body from swift water.
  • Technical assistance to climbers with stuck rope on Sunny Side Slabs.
  • Rappeller hanging from end of rope rescued from El Capitan. Technical lowering and raising. Assisted by helicopter.
  • Litter carryout for injured hiker on Yosemite Falls Trail (several).
  • Snake bite in Little Yosemite Valley and litter evacuation.
  • For 2011-2012, YOSAR responded to 417 search and rescue incidents involving 475 individuals. There were 24 fatalities (two under the age of 13) and 301 individuals were either ill or injured.  There were 91 helicopter missions.  YOSAR also responded to numerous mutual aid requests for search and rescue and body recovery as far away as Mt. Rainier National Park.
