Yosemite Search and Rescue (YOSAR)
05/2011 – 09/2012
As a member of YOSAR, I participated in rescues as often as several times a day in the Valley and in Tuolumne. I used both my Spanish and German on some rescues. These included high-angle rescues (such as El Capitan routes), swift water (such as the Merced River), body recoveries, backcountry search efforts, trail carryouts, ambulance staffing, and numerous helicopter missions. I also participated in mutual aid search assistance for teams from Marin County, Mariposa County, Nevada, and other locations outside the park. I had annual Vertical Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Situational Leadership, Rigging for Rescue, and FEMA ICS 100 and 200 level trainings. I was the vertical rescue trainer for the Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team.
